Former Lake Elsinore Storm Manager, Chicago Cubs Outfielder Dies At 69
Carlos Lezcano, a longtime minor league manager and one-time Cubs player, was remembered across Major League Baseball.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A former Lake Elsinore Storm minor league baseball manager and two-season Chicago Cubs outfielder, Carlos Lezcano, has died after a battle with cancer, media outlets reported over the weekend.
Lezcano played for the Chicago Cubs between 1980 and 1981. Among other teams, he managed the Lake Elsinore Storm, a Class A affiliate of the Padres, from 2007 to 2011. After that, he returned to independent league management and the Puerto Rican Winter League, according to MLB and Newsweek Sports.
Lezcano made his major league debut in 1980 as an outfielder for the Cubs, according to the Modesto Bee. Following his stint there, Lezcano went on to a long career managing in the minor leagues.

According to sports historian Jossie Alvarado, Lezcano holds the record for the most wins by a Puerto Rican manager in the minor leagues with 1,087.
"Lezcano was recognized as a man of dedication to the sport, with a career that made him a respected figure both on and off the field. His time in Ponce left a significant mark on the team's history and the development of its players," reads part of a statement from the Lions regarding Lezcano's death.
