Free Teen Driving Class Offered By CHP

New and future young drivers are invited to an upcoming free driver safety education class offered through the Temecula Area California Highway Patrol’s Start Smart program.

Teenagers between the ages of 15 and 19 are invited along with their parents or guardians to hear officers discuss traffic collision avoidance techniques, collision causational factors, driver/parent responsibilities, seatbelt usage and other topics.

The class is about two hours long and will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Temecula Area CHP office, 27685 Commerce Center Drive, Temecula.

Testimonies are provided by officers who have investigated fatal collisions involving teens, according to CHP Officer Nathan Baer, and the latest “RED ASPHALT” video is shown, which chronicles the aftermath of several teenage driver collisions.

"The CHP offers the Start Smart program to help newly and future licensed teen drivers become more aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver," Baer said.
