JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A brush fire charred over 100 acres of land in Jurupa Valley Friday evening, triggering evacuation orders and immediate fire response, CalFire reported.

The fire, dubbed the Pyrite Fire, had destroyed nearly 150 acres by 7:30 p.m and was at 0 percent containment.

The blaze was originally reported at 5:19 p.m. near Pyrite Street and Granite Hill Drive, near California State Route 60 Freeway.

Fire officials said the fire was burning in "light flashy fuels" and initially thought to be 15 acres before expanding, ABC 7 reported.

At around 6:40 p.m., evacuation orders were issued for the zones JUR0031 and JUR0017, according to CalFire.

Evacuation warnings were issued for JUR-0018.
