Lake Elsinore Recognizes El Comal Restaurant's 20 Year Legacy
The Mexican-Salvadorian eatery is locally beloved for its warm hospitality, rich culinary traditions and contributions to the community.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — As part of Lake Elsinore's Business in Action Spotlight program for this year, the city has chosen to highlight El Comal, a 20-year-old Mexican-Salvadorian staple in the community.
El Comal, founded in 2002, is known for its loyal customer base and for fusing the culinary traditions of Mexico and El Salvador.
At the July 22 City Council meeting, Mayor Brian Tisdale thanked owners Carolina, Miguel, Sam and Brenda Casillas for their contribution to the community and presented them with a certificate of recognition.

However, the family is known not only for running a popular local restaurant, but also for donating food for teacher appreciation events, sponsoring youth teams, supporting Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce activities, contributing to local charities, and engaging in civic initiatives.
"El Comal has become a cherished local treasure and a symbol of resilience and giving in Lake Elsinore and beyond," the city said in a release. "Their commitment to the Lake Elsinore community and giving back is truly inspiring and there is no doubt why El Comal was selected as this month’s spotlight."

El Comal is known for its enchiladas, menudo, pupusas and extensive tequila and mezcal selection, the city said.
The eatery has earned many awards and accolades since opening, including 2020 Medium-Sized Business of the Year by the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce. El Comal has also earned a 4.5 rating on Google with over 1,600 reviews, ranking among the best in Riverside County.
