Lake Elsinore Resident Dies After Being Hit By Gunfire Multiple Times

The 42-year-old man succumbed to his wounds over the weekend.

PERRIS, CA — A Lake Elsinore man who was gunned down just before Christmas has succumbed to his wounds, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced over the weekend.

Rene Diaz, 42, died at a local hospital Sunday, according to the agency.

Little information was released about the shooting. Just before midnight on Dec. 23, deputies assigned to the Perris Sheriff's Station were called to an assault with a deadly weapon incident in the 2500 block of Spectacular Bid Street in Perris. The area is a residential neighborhood lined with tract homes.

Once at the scene, the deputies found Diaz suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was sent to a hospital and remained in critical condition until his death, according to the sheriff's department.

No suspects are in custody and no further information was released from the sheriff's department.
