LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A man was shot to death in Lake Elsinore and the suspect remained at large Sunday, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced.

Deputies from the sheriff's Lake Elsinore station responded to the 2000 block of East Lakeshore Drive around 8:40 p.m. Saturday to a report of a man down. They found the 34-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff's Central Homicide Unit assumed the investigation, but no arrests had been made as of Sunday morning, and no suspect description was immediately available.

The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
