Pilot Dies in Crash of `Experimental Homebuilt' Plane in Corona
A single-engine plane crashed and caused a vegetation fire Saturday.
CORONA, CA — The National Transportation Safety Board Sunday described a single-engine plane that crashed in Corona, killing its pilot, as a Vans RV-8 "experimental homebuilt" aircraft.
The crash occurred shortly before noon Saturday at Auburndale and Rincon Streets, according to the Corona Fire Department. The crash caused a vegetation fire, which fire crews were able to quickly knock down.
The Federal Aviation Administration told ABC7 that the plane crashed after departing from Corona Municipal Airport, and only the pilot was on board.

The victim had not been identified as of Sunday afternoon.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
