Riverside County Deputy Injured In Crash: Report

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Three people, including a Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputy, were hospitalized Wednesday — two with severe injuries — following a two-vehicle crash in Mead Valley.

The crash was reported just before 10 p.m. Tuesday and firefighters responded to the area near Brown and Oakwood streets regarding a collision. According to California Highway Patrol, a white sedan ran a stop sign and crashed into the deputy's patrol car.

ABC 7 reported the sedan rolled down an embankment and overturned. Firefighters freed two people who were trapped inside the sedan and paramedics took them to a hospital with severe injuries.

The deputy involved in the crash was also taken to a hospital in unknown condition, according to ABC 7. Footage from the scene showed the patrol vehicle with heavy front-end damage on the side of the road.
