What mentor taught about success: Coach Weismann is someone I both played for (at Millikan HS) and coached with at Elsinore HS. In both playing and coaching he taught me that to be successful there was never a substitute for hard work. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty. He always pushed me and never let me “settle”.

What mentor taught about dealing with failure: Coach Weismann taught me that “things are never as good or bad as you think they are”. It’s easy to feel down when things aren’t going your way, but we live to see ano ther day. In failure, you must keep perspective.

Best advice from mentor: After a tough loss to a rival, Coach Weismann gave a speech - “What you feel right now hurts, but it is temporary. What matters right now is the love we have for another, because that is forever”. Football isn’t about wins and losses, it’s about caring for your brothers and becoming men, together.
