Wildfire Scorches 12 Acres In Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE, CA —Firefighters were battling a 12-acre vegetation fire Wednesday afternoon in the Lake Elsinore area before forward progress was stopped, officials said.

The blaze was first reported around 2:16 p.m. near Theda Street and the 25100 block of Highway 74 West, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. Crews arriving on scene found a brush fire burning at a moderate rate of spread.

At 3:15 p.m., the fire's forward rate of spread had been stopped, the department said.

"Crews are actively engaged around the fire extinguishing and mopping up the line," the department wrote on X.

As of the latest update, no injuries or evacuations had been reported. Firefighters worked earlier in the afternoon to establish containment lines to prevent the fire from spreading further.
