2 Suspects Sought in Spring Street ARCO Robbery

Two young men pose as customers, then rob the store of cash and cigarettes.

The ARCO on Spring Street was robbed at gunpoint Saturday night by two men who posed as customers until the other customers left the store, according to La Mesa police.

Nobody was injured and the identities of the two suspects are still unknown, police said.  

Officers responded to a silent robbery alarm around 10:24 a.m. and were told by the clerk that one of the suspects pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed the gun at the clerk as the second suspect demanded money from the two cash registers and cigarettes from behind the counter, according to police.

The second suspect went outside to act as a lookout while the clerk handed over an undetermined amount of money and several packs of Newport cigarettes, according to police. The two suspects were last seen running south on Spring Street.

Suspect No. 1: Black male, 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 170-185 pounds and clean shaven. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

Suspect No. 2: Black male, 25 years, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 160-170 pounds and clean shaven. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
