42 People Ticketed for 'Distracted Driving' in La Mesa Friday Morning

A stepped-up enforcement effort targeting distracted driving in La Mesa left more than two dozen motorists holding traffic tickets Friday.
A total of 42 people were cited for talking or texting on their cellphones behind the wheel during the six-hour crackdown in the East County city this morning, according to police.
A grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety funded the operation.
