The top "5 Things" to know in La Mesa Tuesday:

1. International Hot Dog Day- Celebrate the wondrous pork product that can be topped with an amazing amount of condiments, veggies, pickled goodies or even more pork (Ever try bacon on a hot dog?). Find dogs in and around La Mesa at Sunrise Deli New York StyleWetzel's Pretzels at Grossmont Center for your pretzel dogs, the cheapest dog in town at Costco (good kraut as well, just ask for it) and of course, Wienerschnitzel

Where do you get a good dog in town? Anywhere have especially good kraut dogs?

2. La Mesa City Council Meeting-
Begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall (8130 Allison Ave).
The meeting topics are set to include a presentation from Helix Water District regarding proposed rate increase, possible adoption of the biennial budget for FY 2013-14 and 2014-15, PBID and streetscape update, and a hearing about a possible resolution authorizing a rate adjustment for EDCO refuse collection.

4. Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District Board Meeting- Starts at 6:30pm at the Cuyamaca College Student Center, 900 Rancho San Diego Parkway. Agenda includes a contract with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department to enhance patrols at the two East County junior colleges. 

5. La Mesa Man Accused of Posing as a Doctor in Court Today- A Superior Court arraignment is scheduled for Keith Allen Barton, who is accused of posing as a doctor and promising patients he could cure cancer and HIV. 1:30 p.m. in Dept. 11, San Diego County Courthouse, 220 W. Broadway.
