Alleged Box Cutter Slasher Pleads Not Guilty

A La Mesa man accused of slashing an acquaintance with a box cutter pleaded not guilty Thursday to a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

Troy Edward Perott, 47, was ordered held on $50,000 bail.

Perott allegedly cut a 31-year-old man twice in the torso and once in the neck around 6 p.m. last Sunday in a cul-de-sac near La Mesa Middle School and the intersection of Schoolridge Lane and Normal Avenue. The wounds were not believed to be life- threatening, and the motive for the attack was unclear.

Perott surrendered to police about three hours later.

El Cajon Judge Evan Kirvin scheduled a readiness conference for Jan. 8 and a preliminary hearing for Jan. 15.
