Data Show 82.4% Of Those Eligible In SD County Have Registered To Vote
Roughly one quarter of San Diego County residents who are registered to vote have no party affiliation.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY — The latest statewide registered voter figures have been released and the percentage of San Diego County's registered voters is slightly higher than the statewide number, the data show.
Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber released the latest report of registration which reflects data as of Feb. 10.
Statewide, a total of 21,980,768 Californians are registered to vote, which is 82.27 percent of eligible Californians, compared to 79.09 percent at the same point after a regular gubernatorial election four years ago.

In San Diego County 2,342,325 people are eligible to register to vote with 1,929,903 or 82.39 percent showing as registered.
Of those registered in San Diego County, 803,065 or 41.61 percent are registered as Democrats, 518,458 or 26.86 percent are Republicans and 80,439 or 4.17 percent are Independent. Nearly a half a million of those eligible, 470,627 or 24.39 percent, are registered with no party affiliation and 41,922 are registered as either Libertarian, Peace and Freedom or Green. 6,811 are registered as "other" while the remaining 8,581 people have an unknown party preference.

The report of registration is a compilation of voter registration numbers reported by California's 58 county elections offices.
