Deadline Is Thursday for Soroptimists Financial Awards Via La Mesa Chapter

To the editor:

The deadline is Dec. 15 for the Soroptimist International La Mesa Women’s Opportunity Award.

Women who are trying to improve their lives through education or vocational/skills training are invited to apply for financial awards through our organization.

To be eligible, the applicant must be a woman with primary financial responsibility for her family (married or not).  She must be enrolled in a vocational/skills training or undergraduate degree  program and be motivated to achieve her educational and career goals.

The funds can be used for any purpose that helps the recipient to advance her education or training.  Previous recipients are not eligible.

Soroptimist International of La Mesa is one of several local Soroptimist clubs providing the awards.

La Mesa Soroptimists also conducts service projects that focus on such issues as domestic violence, sex trafficking, women in prison and services to homeless women and the elderly.
