Dear City Hall: Please Reinstate Senior Citizen Crossing Guards at School

To the editor:

For the past school year, Murray Manor has enjoyed a senior citizen traffic patrol on the corner of El Paso and Jackson. The woman who volunteers informed me this morning that the pilot program expires today and she will not be out anymore.

If you have ever been at that intersection before school, you would be shocked at the reckless driving of parents who have just dropped off their children. I walk my daughter to school every day, and if it wasn’t for the senior citizen volunteer, we would have been run over long ago.

What can we do to get the city to reinstate this program? Thank you for your consideration.
