Gas Leak Forces Brief Closure of Market on Fletcher Parkway
The Vine Ripe Farmers Market was briefly evacuated Saturday because of a nearby natural gas leak.

Christmas Eve shoppers at the on Fletcher Parkway had to cut their visit short Saturday afternoon when a natural gas leak forced the evacuation of the building, according to a store employee.
The market was closed for about an hour at 1:45 p.m. after the leak was discovered, according to the employee, who said he did not smell natural gas in the building. The market was busy at the time but the evacuation went smoothly, he said.
A spokesman for Heartland Fire said that the leak has been fixed and any evacuations and traffic restrictions have been lifted. No injuries were reported.
