Homecoming King With Down Syndrome Crowned At Helix High School
Daniel Rodriguez and Madeline Heasman were named homecoming king and queen at Helix Charter High School Friday.

Daniel Rodriguez and Madeline Heasman were named homecoming king and queen during a halftime ceremony at Helix Charter High School Friday.
Rodriguez, a senior, has Down Syndrome, and was nominated by Brian Dominguez, who was also a homecoming king candidate.
"Daniel is an exuberant, talented, and above all else, loving young man," said his teacher Kim Fleming. "As a student with Down Syndrome, Daniel has overcome many social challenges to be accepted as a peer and a friend by the general population."
