La Mesa Student Slammed To Ground During Campus Arrest: Video
Police said the teenager was arrested at her school because she refused to leave the campus.

LA MESA, CA -- La Mesa Police Department released a statement Sunday after a video was posted on YouTube of a teenage girl being slammed to the ground during an arrest on a high school campus. The video, which was shared Saturday, shows a girl in a skirt forced to the ground before she is escorted off the campus.
La Mesa Chief of Police Walt Vasquez said staff at Helix High School called for assistance around 1:20 p.m. Friday after a 17-year-old student would not leave the campus.
"As they were walking, the student became non-compliant on two separate occasions and made an attempt to free herself by pulling away from the officer," Vasquez said. "To prevent the student from escaping, the officer forced the student to the ground. After the student agreed to quit resisting and attempting to escape, the officer assisted her up and walked her to his patrol vehicle."

The student received "minor abrasions" in the incident while the officer was not injured, Vasquez said.
