Motel 6 Robbed for Third Time in Nine Months; Police Seek Lone Gunman

"Give me the money," said man with a black semiautomatic handgun, according to police.

The Motel 6 on Alvarado Road was robbed for at least the third time in nine months Saturday night when a man armed with a black semiautomatic handgun entered the motel lobby and demanded cash from the clerk saying, “Give me the money.”

La Mesa police said the latest incident happened about 7:55 p.m. at the motel at 7621 Alvarado Road.

“The clerk complied with the [guman’s] demands, giving him the cash from the register,” police said.

The robber fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction, police said.  Officers searched the surrounding areas, but couldn’t find the gunman.

Police say the robber was described as a black, with a dark complexion, 30-40 years old, 5 feet 10 and medium build, with a mustache and goatee, wearing a black jacket, black sweater, black beanie, black gloves and black pants.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this case or others is asked to call the La Mesa Police Department at 619-667-1400.
