Open Enrollment Set for College Prep Middle School on Jackson Drive
Public charter school, which meets at Church of Christ, will accept new students starting Feb. 15.
College Prepatory Middle School, which meets at the Church of Christ on Jackson Drive, has set open enrollment for the 2012-13 school year.
“We are also happy to announce that we will begin accepting enrollment packets for fifth grade during open enrollment,” said Mitch Miller, director of the 1½-year-old public charter school at 5150 Jackson Dr.
“We feel that this will be a great opportunity to better serve our community and prepare our students for middle school (and beyond). Fifth-grade enrollment packets will be accepted until May 4.”
In-house enrollment for current students and their siblings is Feb. 6-24. Open enrollment for new students begins Feb. 15 and lasts through March 2, Miller said.
“If there are more applications than spaces available (per grade), a lottery will take place on March 9 for new students,” he said.
The school, which meets in rooms beneath the church, will be hosting several Parent Info Nights—Feb. 15, Feb. 21 and Feb. 23—all at 6 p.m.
Enrollment documents will be available for new students on the school website and at the Parent Info Nights, Miller said.
“We can hardly believe that we are already preparing for next school year and are so excited to continue to build upon our foundation of academic success,” he said of the school, which has 174 students.
Chartered by the Mountain Empire School District, College Prep Middle School opened in September 2010 with students from Jamul, Santee, Lemon Grove and San Diego.
