Pickleball Committee Opening In La Mesa: Throw Your Paddle In The Ring
La Mesa's city council will be reviewing plans for adding pickleball opportunities to area courts.
LA MESA, CA — La Mesa is looking for residents who are passionate about both tennis and pickleball.
Residents are asked to throw their paddle in the ring to join the Court Use Subcommittee.
Committee members will first study and then recommend the proper usage of tennis and pickleball courts in La Mesa.

The application deadline is Dec. 6, and applications can be filled out online.

Pickleball is offered at three parks in La Mesa. There is NO CHARGE to play :
1. Collier Park at 4401 Palm Avenue. The tennis court is striped for four pickleball courts.
Note: This park is currently closed for renovation through late 2023.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 - 10:00 PM
Hours that are not assigned to pickleball or tennis are first come first serve.
2. La Mesita Park at 8855 Dallas Street. There are four permanent nets with courts striped for youth tennis and pickleball (courts 3 A-D). Lessons offered by the Recreation Division have court priority. There are four additional courts (courts 4 A-D), with a shared tennis court. Designated pickleball hours are:
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 6:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Monday and Wednesday 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Hours that are not assigned to pickleball or tennis are first come first serve.
3. Highwood Park at 4200 Parks Avenue. Two dedicated pickleball courts and two shared pickleball/tennis courts. Hours for pickleball on the shared court #2 are:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Tuesday and Thursday 1:00 PM - DARK
Hours not assigned to pickleball or tennis are first come, first served.
Tennis can be played at the following locations:
1. La Mesita Park at 8855 Dallas Street. Courts 1 & 2 are dedicated to tennis. (Lessons offered by the Recreation Division have court priority.)
Court 4 is shared with pickleball and is available for tennis:
Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Tuesday – Friday 4:00 – 8:00 PM
Hours that are not assigned to pickleball or tennis are first come first serve.

4. Grossmont High School at 1100 Murray Dr, (off Dennstedt Place), El Cajon, CA 92020. Through a Joint Use Agreement with the Grossmont Union High School District, two courts are open to the public after school hours and on weekends (holidays excluded). School practices and events have priority.
5. Helix High School at 4200 Lowell Avenue, in cooperation with Helix Charter High School and the Grossmont Union High School District, the East County Community Tennis Association (ECCTA) maintains the tennis courts and administers instructional, competitive, and social tennis programs for beginner to advanced juniors and adults.
