Poll: Are Online Dating Websites Worth the Money and Potential Misery?

California’s attorney general Tuesday announced an agreement with online dating sites eHarmony, Match.com and Spark Networks (operator of JDate and ChristianMingle) that aims to protect members from identity theft, financial scams and sexual predators.

Kamala Harris, the AG, said the sites will launch online safety tools, including ones that check subscribers against national sex offender registries and by provide a rapid abuse reporting system for members.  

But singles might have a more fundamental question: Do these sites work?  Do they really lead to romance, love and marriage—as commercials promise?
