Question of the Day: Will Dave Allan Go from La Mesa to Sacramento?

Dave Allan has surprised us again—announcing a bid for a state Assembly seat three months after giving notice that he'll step down from the La Mesa City Council in December 2012.  He also is crafting a run as an Independent—after previously being a registered Republican and then a Democrat.  What are his chances in the newly redrawn, and Democratic-leaning, 79th Assembly District?
