Shape The Expansion Of La Mesa's Library As A Task Force Member

The group will research options for expanding the city's branch of the San Diego Public Library and recommend action to the City Council.

LA MESA, CA — La Mesa bookworms have a few weeks left to put their hat in the ring for the new Library Task Force, which will research options for expanding the city's branch of the San Diego County Library.

Task members will look into options commensurate to the community's size and needs and recommend a course of action to the City Council, a flyer advertising the task force said.

Seven members are needed:

  • San Diego County Library System representative (1).
  • Friends of the La Mesa Library representative (1).
  • Education community representative (1).
  • Faith or nonprofit organization representative (1).
  • At-large representatives – city of La Mesa residents (3).

All applicants must be La Mesa residents, with the exception of the San Diego County Library System representative, the flyer said. Applications can be found here and must be turned in to the city clerk's office (located in City Hall) by Sep. 17 at 5:30 p.m.

The application requests basic identification questions and asks applicants to list their memberships in community organizations or professional groups; the city boards, commissions or committees on which they have previously served; and the reasons why they wish to be considered for appointment by the City Council.

Applicants will be appointed to the task force after a standard interview and appointment process, and all applications will be kept on file for one year from the date of submittal.
