Spring Street Denny’s Robbed by Man Simulating a Handgun, Police Say
Latest robbery of La Mesa store led to search of Gateside and Rockledge roads near restaurant.
La Mesa police Wednesday afternoon searched an area of south La Mesa, looking for a man who had robbed the Denny’s restaurant on Spring Street—but were unsuccessful.
A sheriff’s helicopter helped in the search of the Gateside and Rockledge roads southwest of Spring Street, according a Nixle posting on the latest in a series of retail robberies.
Nixle said the suspect was a white man, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, with a green baseball hat, tan beige sweatshirt, and jeans.
The La Mesa Police Department said a man robbed the Denny’s at 4235 Spring St.
“The suspect presented a note demanding money and simulated a handgun under his clothing during the robbery,” police said in a news release. “The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured during crime.”
The suspect was described as a white male, 30-35 years old, wearing a green hat, beige colored pullover sweatshirt and jeans.
“The suspect was last seen running across the street toward a large apartment complex. No vehicle was seen. ASTREA and a SDSO K-9 [unit] responded with La Mesa police officers, but the suspect was not found.”
