Subway on La Mesa Blvd. Robbed at Gunpoint; Assailants Evade Arrest

The two men accused of robbing the Subway Thursday in the 8100 block of La Mesa Boulevard in downtown La Mesa got away.

A Subway in the Village District at 8142 La Mesa Blvd. was robbed at gunpoint Thursday evening, according to the La Mesa Police Department.

Around 8 p.m. two men entered the sandwich shop and demanded money. One of the two pointed a small-caliber revolver at a sandwich artist while his accomplice put the money in a blue backpack.

The La Mesa Police Department, sheriff's ASTREA helicopter and National City Police Department K9 unit searched the area but the assailants were not located. The two were last seen running southbound on Nebo Drive.

One assailant was described as a white male between the ages of 17 and 19 and approximately 5’7 to 5’8” tall with a thin build. The assailant was wearing a gray sweatshirt with a blue bandana over his face and carrying a blue backpack. 

The other assailant was described as a black male between the ages of 17 and 19 and approximately 5’ 3” to 5’4” tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black long sleeved turtle neck shirt that was pulled over his head.
