Village Car Show, Antica Trattoria, College Scholarships and Cool Zones

What you need to know in La Mesa today.

1. Back to the 50s Car Show at the Village- 5 p.m. Thursday, La Mesa Village.
Travel back in time in the Village. Back to the 50's Car Show will feature vintage cars along La Mesa Blvd between Acacia and Fourth Streets. A DJ will be spinning classics to go along with the vintage evening.

2. Blog of the day: Two La Mesa college students receive scholarships from Grossmont Healthcare District

3. Cool Zones- It's heating up, and if you're too hot and need relief there are a number of air conditioned sites open to the public during regular weekday hours. They are designed to help older adults and people with disabilities stay cool and save energy costs. This year the Cool Zone program will operate June 22 through October 15. Click here to see 12 locations in and around La Mesa, Spring Valley and Mt. Helix that are official cool zones.

4. La Mesa Bites: Antica Trattoria, 5654 Lake Murray Blvd.
Antica Trattoria offers an Italian fine dining experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and offers a large variety of traditional Italian favorites. An extensive wine list is available. Read more and write a review.

5. Patch How-To: Post an event
Are you or an organization you're part of trying to publicize a local event? From garage sales to street fairs, the La Mesa Patch events page is the first place to go to let locals know when, where and what's going on, for free! Click here to get started. Another reason to post an event- I use the events page to populate the daily 5 Things posts and weekly events previews, which means more publicity for you're event.
