Village Merchants Association Stands Neutral on the Downtown PBID Issue

Executive board: "Neither the organization, nor the board of the LMVMA has held any votes regarding whether to suggest or direct members of the LMVMA to support or oppose the PBID."

The following letter, dated Jan. 10, was addressed to La Mesa PBID supporters and sent via email to the PBID Formation Committee. It was CC’d to La Mesa Patch, La Mesa Today, the La Mesa Plaza Homeowners Association and La Mesa United Methodist Church.

To the editor:

The La Mesa Village Merchants Association is a nonprofit civic organization, not a political body. As such, the LMVMA stands neutral toward the proposed business improvement district, or PBID.

As part of its neutrality, neither the organization, nor its board has voted to enter into discussions regarding changing its position about the PBID. Further, neither the organization, nor the board of the LMVMA has held any votes regarding whether to suggest or direct members of the LMVMA to support or oppose the PBID. Any public comments to the contrary are false.

During this time of debate over the PBID, the LMVMA and its board encourages all business owners and residents of La Mesa to remember that during this process and afterwards, the community will have to continue to work together for the betterment of La Mesa.
