Acalanes High School Student To Receive County's Humanitarian Award

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — An Acalanes High School senior will receive countywide recognition next month at Contra Costa County's 45th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ceremony.

The Board of Supervisors invites the public to help commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the event scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17. This year's theme is "The Future Belongs to All."

Countywide recognition will be given at the ceremony to the Adult Humanitarian of the Year, Cheryl Sudduth, Contract Services Manager for AC Transit and an El Sobrante resident, and the Student Humanitarian of the Year, Ava Freeman, a senior at Acalanes High School.

Honorees will be recognized for their leadership, advocacy and service to Contra Costa County, its residents, and communities in the spirit of Dr. King’s work and achievements.
