Smokey Skies Expected In Moraga, Orinda: What To Know

The burn is intended to help restore native vegetation and improve wildlife habitat but may create smoky conditions.

LAMORINDA, CA — Residents should consider closing doors and windows tomorrow between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to keep out smoke from a prescribed fire project being conducted by the Moraga-Orinda Fire District.

The three-acre burn project is near Ridge Crest Road, north of Pinehurst Road at the Sogorea Te' Land Trust.

The burn is intended to help restore native vegetation and improve wildlife habitat. It will create a buffer between the wildland and homes in the area. The project is an introduction to cultural Rx fire for the Sogorea Te' Land Trust staff, district officials said.

The Moraga-Orinda Fire District is coordinating with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and CAL Fire's Santa Clara Unit.
