MORAGA, CA — The Moraga-Orinda Fire District and Contra Costa County Fire Crew 12 planned to conduct prescribed fire projects this week in Moraga near the Valle Vista Staging Area.

The burns were slated for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Dec. 30-31 and Jan. 2. Starting around 10 a.m. daily, firefighters planned to burn brush piles in the Tunnel-East Bay Hills Shaded Fuel Break near Upper San Leandro Reservoir and Canyon Road.

Motorists driving toward the community of Canyon may see or smell smoke. Nearby residents should close exterior doors and windows to keep smoke from entering their homes, the fire district said.
