Traffic Alert: Lafayette To Close St. Mary's Road For Emergency Repair
Emergency roadwork needs to be performed to fix an embankment damaged by a mudslide.
LAFAYETTE, CA — A segment of St. Mary's Road will be closed in both directions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday for emergency roadwork from
Due to recent storm damage to a segment of the shoulder on the southbound side of St. Mary's Road —300 feet south of Driftwood Drive — the city hired a contractor to perform interim roadway embankment stabilization to address a mudslide adjacent to St. Mary's Road.
The roadway shoulder in the area to be stabilized is currently coned off due to soil erosion and is being inspected daily, the city said.

During the roadwork on Thursday, St. Mary’s Road will be closed in both directions, with detours in place at Rheem Boulevard and Rohrer Drive.
Access will be permitted to properties between Rheem Boulevard and Rohrer Drive, however, it will not be possible to drive through the construction area just south of Driftwood Drive.

"Please plan accordingly for delays/detours on Thursday, Jan. 12, especially during the afternoon school pickup," the city said. "Travel delays should be expected."
County Connection Bus Route 626 will serve all stops on Thursday, with the exception of those at Cattle Chute Road, St. Mary’s College, and Driftwood Drive.
