MMWD Hosting FREE Sheet Mulching Workshop on Friday, February 17

Tired of your water-guzzling, labor-intensive lawn? Come learn how to replace your unwanted turf grass using the simple and inexpensive technique of sheet mulching. The Marin Municipal Water District is hosting a FREE, hands-on workshop on Friday, February 17, 10:00 a.m. to noon at the district’s offices at 220 Nellen Avenue in Corte Madera. Please bring work gloves if you have them and meet in the parking lot adjacent to Tamal Vista Boulevard.

Sheet mulching uses cardboard and organic mulch to virtually eliminate weeds, attract worms, improve soil health and reduce the need for irrigation. Sheet mulching can even be done over the top of an existing lawn to transition to a new, more water-efficient landscape.

The event is being by presented by MMWD’s Conservation Action Committee (CAC), a networking forum for individuals and representatives from agencies, organizations and businesses interested in promoting natural resource conservation actions in Marin. CAC events are free and open to everyone with an interest in water conservation.
