County Moves Ahead with $10.4M Multi-Use CalPark Tunnel-Larkspur Ferry Overpass

Supes expected to approve plans that include an elevated crossing over Sir Francis Drake Blvd. with an access ramp leading down to an existing multi-use path along the road.

The Marin County Board of Supervisors is set Tuesday to move forward a project that connects the end of the CalPark Tunnel with the Larkspur Ferry terminal via an elevated, multi-use path over Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in Larkspur.

The project, which has a $10.4 million price tag, is part of the county's larger effort to "promote non-motorized commute alternatives and enhance recreational travel while providing safe, direct and convenient pedestrian/bicycle access between local transit facilities, schools, business centers and residential communities," according to the Transportation Authority of Marin.

The supervisors are expected to approve the plans for the project and give the county's public works department the green light to send it out to bid. The transit agency has already performed an environmental review (click here to see the Mitigated Negative Declaration), obtained regulatory agency permits and developed mitigation and monitoring plans, according to Ernest Klock, the county's principal civil engineer.
