Gov. Gavin Newsom To Move Back To The Bay Area

The governor's kids will attend Marin County schools in the fall while the first couple splits time between Sacramento and the North Bay.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — California's first family is preparing to move back to the North Bay over the summer, in time for the governor's four children to start the new school year in Marin County, according to reports.

According to Politico, Gov. Gavin Newsom and first partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom will keep their six-bedroom house outside Sacramento, and spend nights there as needed. In Marin County, they will be staying with extended family.

As Politico reports, the Newsoms grew up in Marin County, where the governor graduated from Redwood High School in Larkspur and Siebel Newsom graduated from The Branson School in Ross.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, a spokesperson for the governor said the move was meant to "ensure continuity in their children's education," and each will enroll in Marin County schools for the upcoming fall semester. Politico reports the Newsom's eldest child, Montana, is expected to attend her mother's alma mater.

The Los Angeles Times notes Newsom will be California's third consecutive governor to split time between homes while in office, following Jerry Brown and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
