Governor Names McGlashan's Replacement

Sausalito's Kathrin Sears will represent the Marin County Board of Supervisors' third district.

Gov. Jerry Brown appointed a supervising deputy attorney general to fill the Marin County Board of Supervisors seat left open after the death of Charles McGlashan.

Kathrin Sears will represent the third district, officials from Brown's office announced today. Sears, 58, of Sausalito, is a Democrat who will serve on the board after working at the California Department of Justice.

Previously, she was a partner and associate at two law firms. Locally, she served on the board of directors on the Marin Conservation Corps, now known as the Conservation Corps North Bay, from 2003 to 2007 and chaired the Sausalito Public Safety Facilities Steering Committee in 2002.

Sears will be paid $97,739 for the supervisor position, which does not require Senate confirmation, the governor's office said.

She will replace McGlashan, who died March 27 of an apparent heart attack while on a ski trip in Lake Tahoe, according to Marin County officials. He was 49 years old when he died and served on the board since 2005.
