Police Search Extends To Greenbrae

Santa Rosa police have arrested 11 people in connection with a gang-related attack that injured several members of a family attending a car show at a park earlier this month.

Investigators conducted a series of warrant searches at locations in Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Union City, Vacaville, Rohnert Park and Greenbrae on Thursday and arrested 10 suspects in connection with the June 16th attack, including three Santa Rosa juveniles and seven adults, said Sgt. Rainer Navarro.

The suspects were arrested on charges including felony assault with intent to commit great bodily injury, battery, fighting in public and gang enhancements.

A Marin County man, Carl Hastie, 27, was previously arrested after the attack.

The fight occurred shortly before 7 p.m. at Youth Community Park at 1701 Fulton Road during the third annual Santa Rosa Style Low Rider Club car show, which attracted a large crowd, according to Navarro.

A group of suspects began arguing with a 40-year-old man who was at the park with his family, Navarro said.

When the man's 18-year-old daughter tried to intervene in the argument, she was punched by one of the suspects. Her father, in turn, tried to stop the assault, and was knocked to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked by several subjects until he lost consciousness, Navarro said.

The fight turned into a brawl in which three more members of the family were assaulted by the suspects, several of whom were wearing clothing indicating gang affiliation and shouting gang challenges.

The 18-year-old girl suffered significant injuries to her face and her father suffered a serious cut. Both were treated at a local hospital and released. The other three victims were not seriously injured.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived, but were seen leaving in a white Chevrolet pickup.

Police later located a similar vehicle at an apartment complex on the 800 block of Russell Avenue and took Hastie into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, assault resulting in serious injury and two gang enhancements, as well as three counts of battery. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail.

The adult suspects arrested in Thursday's raids included Guadalupe Cervantes, 45, of Santa Rosa; Anthony Cervantes, 24; Robert Sandoval, 35, of Santa Rosa; Thomas Gollardo, 23, of Santa Rosa; Juan Tovar, 19, of Santa Rosa; Tavo Collazo, 36, of Union City, and Robert Marques, 26, of Vacaville. All were booked into Sonoma County Jail.

Another two suspects, Robert Flett, 26, of Rohnert Park, and Rudy Cuevas-Vigil, 20, of Santa Rosa, remain at large, Navarro said.

Police also located a stolen assault rifle at Marques' home during the search, adding possession of an assault weapon and possession of stolen property to his charges. Tovar and Gollardo were also charged for parole violations.

Police believe others witnessed the assault, and are asking for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call the Gang Crimes Team at (707) 543-3670.
