Pop-Up Fooducation

Around Town March 2-4: Do you appreciate sustainable food? Shakespeare? Sugar cookies? Have we got a date for you.

 

• Pop-up books are normally thought of as fodder for young children. Author Douglas Gayeton takes pop-ups to a whole new level and market with his "information art" that makes up his ever-expanding exhibition "Lexicon of Sustainability." His pop-up art show benefiting Marin Agricultural Land Trust arrives in Larkspur, March 2, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at Marin Country Mart. The show is free, but reservations are required. • College of Marin's production of Shakespeare's As You Like It officially opens Friday, March 2, at 8 p.m. Performances continue Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through March 18. Tickets are $20 general, $12 for seniors and $10 for students, COM employees and alumni. Call 485-9385 for reservations.

• Author Jennifer Chiaverini visits Book Passage in Corte Madera on Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m., to talk about Sonoma Rose, her new Prohibition-era story, set in California. It follows the fortunes of one woman who plunges into the unknown for the safety of her children and the love of a good but flawed man.

• Looking for a good meal and a good time? Try Max's Cafe. Every Sunday, 7-9 p.m., is LGBT Happy Hour.

• Calling all young bakers! SusieCakes in the Bon Air Shopping Center is hosting a sugar cookie decorating session on Saturday, March 3, at 5 p.m. The fee is $65. Reservations are required.

• Don't forget about the farmers market Saturdays, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and the Off The Grid food truck fest Sundays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., both at Marin Country Mart.
