Twin Cities Crime Log: April 27-May 3
The sweet smell of shoplifting; Road rage over parking spaces.

• Abercrombie and Fitch, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported they had an employee in custody for the embezzlement of $130 in merchandise. A San Rafael resident was arrested for the embezzlement and released on a citation at the scene.
• Abercrombie and Fitch in the Village Shopping Center reported that sometime within the last hour, someone had stolen forty bottles of fragrances worth approximately $2,160. The theft was unwitnessed and there is no possible suspect information at this time.
• A Loss Prevention Officer for the Nordstrom store in the Village Shopping Center reported that a woman had fraudulently used a Nordstrom VISA card to make a purchase and then left the store in a vehicle with two other subjects. Twin Cities Police Officers located the vehicle on East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. A Richmond woman was arrested for Commercial Burglary, Identity Theft, Forgery and Theft with a Forged Credit Card and booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A San Rafael Woman reported that while she was waiting for a parking place in the area of the Bay Club in the Corte Madera Town Center, another vehicle pulled into the space in front of her. The person that got out of the vehicle, told her that the parking place was hers and then began screaming racial epitaphs at her, expressing that her “type of people” were unwelcome here and making specific racial comments. A Sausalito woman was identified as the responsible person and a report was taken for Disturbing the Peace, Using Words Likely to Provoke a Violent Reaction. Further action is pending.
• The Rite Aid store in the Corte Madera Town Center reported a subject had just run out of the store with approximately $50 worth of liquor in a hand basket. The subject got into a waiting vehicle and left toward Tamalpais Drive. The area was checked for the vehicle and subject with negative results.

• A resident in the 1500 block of Casa Buena Drive reported that during the night, his business vehicle, a tow truck which was parked on the street near his residence, had its windshield damaged by some type of projectile. Documentation for the vandalism was provided.
• A resident in the 670 block of Chapman Avenue called and reported that she had just come home and found her front door “shattered”. The residence was checked for a suspect still on the scene with negative results. After checking the residence herself, the resident was able to determine that nothing had been taken. A report was taken for an attempt Residential Burglary.
• A resident in the 600 block of Via Casitas reported that someone had attempted to enter her residence over the last several days by prying the screen from the kitchen window. No entry was actually gained to the residence. A report was taken for an attempt Residential Burglary.
• A Marin City resident reported that while he was putting air in his bicycle tires at the Corte Madera Town Center Chevron Station, someone stole his unattended gym bag which contained a video camera, a Sony camera and various home movies.
• Twin Cities Police Officers responded to a residential audible alarm in the 120 block of Altura Way and discovered a broken front window to the residence. The owner checked the residence and determined that nothing was taken and that Officers responding to the call may have scared the responsible persons away.
• A resident in the 130 block of Prince Royal Drive reported door-to-door solicitors in the area. Five Kirby vacuum cleaner salespersons were located and advised of the need for solicitor’s permits. One of the subjects, an Orland man, was arrested on an outstanding Glenn County Warrant and booked at the Marin County Jail.
• A Larkspur resident reported that while her vehicle was parked, unlocked, in the parking lot of Corte Madera Town Park, it was entered by an unknown person and her gym bag was taken. The bag contained prescription medication, gym clothes and gym shoes. Loss is approximately $50.
• The Any Mountain store, in the Marketplace Shopping Center on Tamal Vista Boulevard, reported that an unknown person had taken a rack of clothing valued at $500 sometime since the previous date. The theft was not witnessed.
• A resident in the 30 block of Greenbrae Boardwalk reported that while her vehicle was parked, unlocked, in the parking lot on Redwood Highway, someone had entered the vehicle and stolen her FastTrak transponder and vehicle registration from the glove box.
• A Corte Madera resident reported that his bicycle, a grayish-green men’s single speed Torelli, valued at $700, while he was at the Bay Club in the Corte Madera Town Center.
• After contacting the subject in the 30 block of San Clemente Drive, a San Rafael woman was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and Violation of Probation. She was booked at the Marin County Jail.
• A TCPD Officer on patrol located a non-injury accident in the area of Tamalpais Drive and Pixley Avenue. Assistance was provided with the exchange of information.
• A Novato man reported that his green 1989 Honda Accord had been stolen from where it had been parked in the area of Active Auto Sales, 200 Nellen Avenue. The area was checked with negative results. A report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.
• A Larkspur resident reported that his Blackberry cell phone, valued at approximately $400, was taken from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the area of the CVS store in the Bon Air Shopping Center. The theft was not witnessed.
• TCPD Officers assisted with the exchange of information between two drivers who had been involved in a non-injury collision in the area of the 1200 block of Larkspur Landing Circle.
• A Richmond resident reported that while her vehicle was parked in the area of 24 Hour Fitness in the Marin Country Mart Shopping Center, another vehicle hit hers, but the subject left without providing any information. She was not able to provide a correct license plate number for the other vehicle.
• A Kentfield resident reported that while she was shopping in the CVS store in the Bon Air Shopping Center, someone stole her purse from the shopping cart. The purse contained her identification, several credit cards, $20 cash and other miscellaneous contents. Her credit cards were used at two nearby locations. Investigation is pending.
• A resident in the 900 block of Via Casitas reported that last week two “oil tycoons” called to rent a limousine for two weeks. They wired her a check for $12,000, which is more than the fee, and were asking her to transfer $9000 to another person. She was advised that this is typical of West African scams. The subject was able to close her bank account before she suffered any loss.
• A business in the 500 block of Magnolia Ave. reported they had been advised by their credit card company that there had been $7500 in fraud on their account. A report was taken and there is further investigation pending.
• TCPD Officers responded to the area of Magnolia Ave. and Bon Air Rd. to assist the Larkspur Fire Department with a medical aid call for a woman down call. As the woman was being transported to Marin General Hospital, she became combative. A San Francisco woman was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and was booked at the Marin County Jail.
• A Greenbrae woman reported that while she was at the Mt. Tam Racquet Club, her iPhone was stolen from her locker.
• A resident of the 70 block of Birch Ave. reported that she had received a suspicious letter in the mail. The letter was determined to contain a fraudulent check that is part of a West African scam. A fraud report was taken and there is further investigation pending.
• The owner of a plumbing business in Novato reported that his Rigid Mule pipe threading machine, valued at $2000, was stolen while it was on a jobsite in the 20 block of Willow Ave.
During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 330 calls for service. This included one hit and run accident and two property damage only accidents.There were three residential burglaries. There was one call related to Driving while Intoxicated which resulted in one arrest.
