What's The Secret To Good Food?

Around Town April 4-5: Start with fresh ingredients when you shop the weekly farmers markets.

Marin County is home to some very educated diners who follow their food from the farm to the table. Aaron Wright, head chef at the Tavern at Lark Creek, regularly picks up fresh vegetables for his menu at the farmers market.

"We always look for trusted sources. ... It can be expensive, but we're all under pressure from a public that demands quality food," he said.

See what's growing at the Corte Madera farmers market every Wednesday in the Town Center, from noon to 5 p.m. Maybe pick up some farm fresh eggs. Here's an Easter tip: Even if you don't have time to dye eggs, you can still have colorful eggs. On my last trip to the farmers market I found sky blue eggs, green eggs and speckled eggs — all as nature intended.

By the way, if you're looking for a special Easter brunch that you don't have to cook yourself, Wright suggests making reservations for a table at Tavern.

The restaurant will host a night of dinner and dancing on Monday, April 9, when a professional instructor will offer Swing lessons.
