Why Your Water Rates Might Increase
The Marin Municipal Water District will hold a workshop Thursday regarding its proposal to increase rates.

The Marin Municipal Water District will hold an informational workshop next week on a proposed 6 percent water rate increase.
The workshop will provide information about the district's finances and the reasons for the proposed rate hike.
The hearing is between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at the district's board room, 220 Nellen Ave. in Corte Madera.

The rate hike will go into effect for water use beginning May 1 and for meter readings beginning July 1.
The average customer's bill will increase $5.63 per two-month billing period, increasing from $94.44 to $100.07, district spokeswoman Libby Pischel said.

Even with the proposed rate increase, the district delivers water to customers at slightly more than one half-cent per gallon, Pischel said.
The district's board of directors will vote on the rate increase at a public hearing on April 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the San Rafael City Council Chambers, located at 1400 Fifth Ave. in San Rafael.
