At least five people were injured Friday in a fiery, multi-vehicle crash on westbound state Route 94 that temporarily forced the closure of both sides of the roadway.
The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. near Euclid Avenue, according to San Diego fire spokesman Lee Swanson. The crash involved at least three vehicles, including an SUV, a sedan and a pickup truck with a camper shell that toppled over the center divider onto the eastbound side of the freeway.
At least five people were injured, but their conditions were not immediately known, Swanson said. CBS8 reported that firefighters had to rescue a man who was trapped in the pickup.
All lanes of the freeway were blocked in both directions while rescue crews responded to the scene, but the roadway was cleared in about an hour.
