Friday-Night Checkpoint on Broadway Targets Impaired Drivers
Two drivers are arrested by sheriff's deputies for suspicion of DUI, and 19 vehicles are impounded.

A checkpoint conducted by sheriff’s deputies on Broadway Friday night resulted in two drivers arrested on DUI charges and one warrant arrest, according to the sheriff’s department.
The checkpoint near Federal Boulevard started at 8 p.m. and ended at 1:30 a.m., with 1,360 drivers being contacted and 53 sent to secondary inspection, according to Sgt. Herbert Taft. Deputies impounded 19 vehicles and issued 18 citations for driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license.
Approximately 12 officers staffed the checkpoint, according to the sheriff’s department, which was funded by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety.
