Helix Water District: Apply For Helix's 2022 College Scholarships

Each year, Helix Water District offers two college scholarships to outstanding high school seniors. The Dr. Lillian M. Childs and Robert D. Friedgen scholarships provide $1,000 to help with freshman year expenses.

To be eligible, students must live in Helix Water District’s service area, graduate from high school this spring and attend a four-year college or university next fall. Helix serves La Mesa, El Cajon, Lemon Grove, Spring Valley and unincorporated areas around these communities. If you’re not sure whether you live in our service area, call customer service at 619-466-0585 and ask if we have an account for your address.

To apply, students must complete the following:

Answer the questions in the application regarding extracurricular activities, community service and work experience

Write a two-page essay answering the questions, “What is potable reuse and East County Advanced Water Purification?”

Write a one-page statement describing their goals and plans after high school

Provide two letters of recommendation

Provide an official high school transcript

Applications are due on Friday, March 4, 2022 and are available below, on our School Programs webpage and from high school counselors.
