Gum Grove Park Closes Amid Increase In Fire Danger: Police

High winds and a heatwave this week prompted Seal Beach officials to close the park until further notice, authorities said.

SEAL BEACH, CA — Gum Grove Park will be closed until further notice starting Thursday, with Seal Beach officials citing an increased fire danger amid high winds and soaring temperatures as the reason why.

The closure is to help mitigate any risk of a fire breaking out in the park, the Seal Beach Police Department said.

The National Weather Service issued a heat and wind advisory for Orange County this week.

Winds ranging from 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 miles per hour were expected through 4 p.m. Thursday.

Temperatures in Orange County are expected to be as high as 89 degrees Fahrenheit through Sunday, according to the weather service.
