Los Al Bucks Program Comes To An End This Month
The Los Al Bucks program started as a way to encourage residents to shop at businesses in Los Alamitos.
LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Residents have until Monday to spend whatever Los Al Bucks they have left lying around at a local Los Alamitos business, city officials announced.
City officials started the program in November as a way to promote shopping at local businesses amid the pandemic. Los Al Bucks are redeemable within Los Alamitos and only at stores participating in the program, city officials said.
Money from the American Rescue Plan Act funded the Los Al Bucks program.

There are some caveats when using the Los Al Bucks:
- Are not redeemable for cash;
- Are not usable at gas stations, home-based businesses, marijuana dispensaries and online food delivery services;
- Lotto tickets, tobacco products and alcohol are not purchasable with Los Al Bucks.
The total purchase from a business must be more than the value of the Los Al Bucks, city officials said.
