Man Waved Fake Gun At People On Pier: Police

Officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Santa Fe Springs in connection with the incident, Seal Beach police said.

SEAL BEACH, CA — Police arrested a Santa Fe Springs man Sunday after a person was seen on the Seal Beach Pier pointing a handgun at multiple people, Seal Beach police said.

Austin Heesung Lee, 30, was arrested on suspicion of drawing or exhibiting an imitation firearm in a threatening manner, which is a misdemeanor, the Seal Beach Police Department said Tuesday.

Lee was booked into the Seal Beach jail and released on a citation, police said.

Police responded to the Seal Beach Pier around 4:04 p.m. after a man was seen pointing a gun at several people in a threatening manner, authorities said.

Witnesses told officers the man was arguing with someone at the end of the pier when he took out what appeared to be a black gun and pointed it at people, police said.

The man fled the pier toward Main Street before officers arrived, police said.

Officers found a man matching the description given to them by witnesses, police said. The man was taken into custody and identified as Lee, police said.

Lee had a black airsoft gun modeled after a 9mm Beretta handgun, police said. The gun had a "tactical light" attached to it and was missing an orange tip identifying it as fake, police said.
