OC Sheriff's Warn Rossmoor Residents Of New Phone Scam

The Orange County Sheriff's Department wants Rossmoor residents to be aware of a scam circulating in the community.

ROSSMOOR, CA — The Orange County Sheriff's Department is warning residents of a new phone scam that has recently surfaced in the community.

Residents have reported scammers are posing as representatives from the Orange County Sheriff's Department in an attempt to steal personal information from unsuspecting residents, authorities said.

"Please know that OC Sheriff will never call you and ask for payment," a spokesperson with the Orange County Sheriff's Department wrote on Twitter.

The sheriff’s department strongly encourages residents to stop contact with anyone they suspect is a scammer and immediately report the caller to the OCSD dispatch at 714-647-7000.

The department said residents should also secure their finances if they think they've been scammed — that means reporting potentially compromised bank accounts, credit or debit card information to your bank immediately.
